Using Press Releases to Increase Traffic
72Press releases are an effective way to generate a huge amount
of traffic to your hubs as well as your other websites. Traditionally,
press releases were covered in newspapers and other news-oriented
publications and often received very little attention from the general
public - at least compared to the impact a press release can have
on your business today.
Target Your Ideal Audience
Today's press releases are typically search engine optimized, meaning that specific, targeted keywords are strategically placed throughout the release to grab the attention of search engines like Google and Yahoo. Search engine optimized press releases are designed to be found easily by your target readers by gaining high search rankings for the terms most important to you.
Most writers specializing in press releases also offer a distribution service. Having your press release professionally distributed can focus your niche even more by submitting your news to smaller outlets that are related to your hubs without forgetting the big guys like Google News.
Increase Your Hub Rankings
A search engine optimized press release uses strong anchor links to guide readers to your hub pages. Links within the release, pointing to your hubs, use phrases that people interested in your content may use to find more information on the topic through the search engines. These links are quite powerful in determining the placement for your site and can only boost your overall performance.
Reach Even More People
While an online press release's ability to target your ideal reader
is one reason it is so effective, a well-written and interesting press
release also has the ability to reach literally millions of eyes. Once
distributed, your press release has the potential to spread throughout
the internet with links and excerpts on a variety of websites. Huge
traffic spikes are not at all uncommon following the publication of
an effective release. More traffic results in more clicks, more sales,
and more money in your pocket!
Stay Informed and Keep Readers Informed
Modern press releases offer much more than simple information like the releases of yesterday. Feed subscriptions allow your readers to keep up to date on the latest news from your hubs and websites. Any additional news or announcements are automatically sent to your subscribers to keep them aware of your most recent activity. Email alerts and RSS feeds are also a great way to keep yourself informed on the latest buzz about your hubs. Many press release companies offer monitoring as a part of their package.
The Best Press Release Sites for Distribution
- Newswire Today has helped businesses promote their name for more than twenty years through online advertising and news announcements. Submission to Newswire Today is free for intriguing news releases.
- PR Zoom is a sister company of Newswire today and also offers free sign up and distribution.
- ClickPress provides a free outlet for distributing well-written press releases and targets a variety of other news sites.
- PRWeb is not a free distribution site but is well worth the cost. Packages begin at $80 and offer high visibility with a variety of options.
- 1888Press Release also has several distribution packages to choose from, including a free press release submission option.

Hey Danielle,
Great Hub with very useful information on how press releases are an important way to increase your traffic flow.
PRLog is another good site for distribution, often getting better results (for Google visibility) than the likes of PRWeb and Newswire, despite being a free distribution site.
Great Hub!

Hi Danielle,
Which of these sites has given you the best results? I just submitted my first release to prlong.org but they don't let you put a link to your site in the release.
