5 Ways a Quality Website Can Benefit Your Business

As a small business owner in the offline world - and a longtime fan of the internet - it didn't take me long to realize the true potential a web presence holds for any business, online or off. Not only can you reach more of your targeted customer base, creating a website for your business opens unlimited doors for new ways to generate a profit.

  • A business website reaches members of your ideal market that may not rely on traditional forms of advertising. Many younger generation homeowners don't even receive a print copy of the local newspaper anymore - a large percentage of individuals get nearly all of their info and news directly from the internet. Advertising in the yellow pages or the paper won't reach this portion of consumers, but a business website will!
  • A web presence builds your business's credibility. Today, everyone has a website - the internet has become such an ordinary part of our lives, we don't even mention the www anymore! From my own experience, it is not at all uncommon for a potential client to google your business before choosing your product or service...a website will assert your professionalism as well as help to address questions or concerns.

  • A website gives your business a global platform. Many small business owners in the brick and mortar world focus on the client base around them. The internet gives you the opportunity to expand to consumers everywhere. If your company specializes in tangible products, a website is a natural extension that allows you to open your doors to millions more consumers. Services are harder to market on a global scale, but offer a complete solution that can reach multiple surrounding areas rather than placing ads in multiple directories.
  • Taking your business online can also improve customer relations. The convenience of digital communications makes it easy for your client to contact you on their own time without interrupting your schedule. Your business website can serve as an information hub, providing clients and potential customers with answers to most of their common questions. Additional assistance can be a simple click away with contact forms, an email address, and easy access to your phone number.
  • A business website offers many new avenues for profitability. A website will attract new clients, improve service, and even expand your audience, but an online presence also makes it possible to start earning money in new ways. Pay-per-click advertising programs and affiliate marketing opportunities are abundant and can fit into most any business, creating a simple and cost-effective way to generate extra revenue.

Creating your own business website is not too difficult. There are a number of companies available that can help and just as many resources and guides for those who prefer to try their own hand. I recommend hiring a quality web designer that will work with you to build an easy to maintain website that suits you and your business. A unique content company that specializes in original SEO writing can also prove to be very beneficial throughout the lifetime of your website.

Excellent first Hub, Danielle!

I'm still amazed at how many people (businesses especially!) don't have some sort of web presence. As you say, it's so easy to set up and people can use websites or even blogs to get an idea of what you're about. I dunno, some people...

Liked the part about the newspaper vs. internet - that is so me!!!  ;-)

Thanks for a great Hub!
